Carol Woods
Carol Woods is an accredited, not-for-profit continuing care retirement community located 10 minutes from Chapel Hill and 20 minutes from Durham. Health and well being are at the forefront of Carol Woods’ mission and promoted accordingly. For this reason, all residents must first move to Carol Woods while they are still independent and then transition to a supported living lifestyle as needed. An indoor heated swimming pool, 24-hour fitness center, and daily exercise classes contribute to keeping physical fitness and mental well being a priority on campus. The community embraces their 120 acres of wooded land by building and promoting many outdoor spaces and activities for residents. A bird sanctuary, dog park, croquet court, bocce court, and walking trails are maintained on campus.
Carol Woods offers independent living in apartments and cottages, as well as assisted living apartment and homes. Residents are given 30 meal credits per month to be used at on campus dining facilities. The Carol Woods dining room serves three meals per day, seven days per week, paying mind to specific dietary needs. Vegetarian, low-sodium, and low-fat menu items are available at every meal.
A monthly service fee provides residents access to an extensive list of amenities including an on-site library, woodworking and craft shop, sewing and art studio rooms, resident association activities, ping pong room, gift shop, and a hair salon. Technology is also a focus at Carol Woods where residents are able to attend monthly computer classes, a computer room, and campus-wide WiFi.
