Chapel Hill and Carrboro have been designated as bicycle friendly communites by the League of American Bicyclists. Chapel Hill was designated at the Bronze level and Carrboro was designated at the Silver level. Both Chapel Hill and Carrboro have worked hard at integrating bicycling into their city plans. This is absolutely a bicycling town which is great. It is wonderful to be able to take great rides either on the streets or trails right from your house. Before moving to Chapel Hill, my husband and I lived in Washgton, DC. We would have to drive a half hour to 45 minutes to get to an area that was safe enough for a good ride. Chapel Hill and Carrboro have great bicycling for people of all ages and interest levels.
