Is black the new gray? Here are my thoughts about this trend.
I like to talk about design trends—it’s one of the fun parts of this business. One design trend I’m noticing more and more as I look at houses in our market is the color black. Is gray on the way out and black on the way in? Black is seen as a chic and elegant color, and designers say black doesn’t ever really go out of style.
The fact that I’m seeing more and more black in homes is interesting. Personally, when I see a whole room painted black, I feel like that’s a little much, but black accents can be fantastic. Take a look at the pictures starting at 0:54 in the video above and let me know what you think. We’re starting to see more black in furniture, accents, and on the walls of primary living spaces. We’re also seeing more black in kitchens; I’ve seen all-black cabinets in kitchens, which is pretty powerful.

In the next slide, you can see how some homes look painted black. When I first heard about this, I thought, “How can that possibly look good?” In those pictures, though, the colors pop, and the houses look fabulous.
